This season's look is homemade...
I finished the dress! And the hat! And for myself, I ripped the sleeves off a linen shirt and turned into a tunic, and shortened a long dress (which, whilst it may not be catwalk, is certainly appreciated at home!).
Neither the hat nor the dress is textbook perfect. The hat, I think, is a bit too loose - I tried with a 3.5mm hook and that was too tight; this is done with a 4.5mm hook and I think that was too big a step up. Plus, it's not the right yarn (this is Jaeger Aqua, it should have been Rowan DK handknit or something), so it's kinda floppy. But K likes it very much, so who am I to argue?
The dress - from this marvellous tutorial at Craftster, much kudos to Cheytown, the designer - wasn't too difficult to put together, apart from making life difficult for myself by choosing a small shirt to begin with. I am not happy with the way the straps and the underarms have worked out; I think it's cut too high, but again K says it's fine, doesn't rub her or anything so again, I'm not arguing! It's taught me a lot, anyway (not least that an overlocker must be a marvellous thing). Perhaps I can move the straps up a bit if I can ever get her out of the dress...
Crosspost to K's journal for another great picture of my little supermodel.
Next project: HANDBAGS!

Lovely! I love that shirt dress... it's such a great idea. I am thinking about handbags too - have you seen this blog: http://u-handbag.typepad.com/
It's fab!
Such an adorable outfit, she looks stunning :) Like the say for the bits you are unhappy with, she loves it so who are you to argue?!
Ooh, Ali, thanks for that link - I've been looking for those magnetic bag clasps!
Ho hum, guess I won't be making my fortune selling bags, then...
