Harry Beau and the Underpants Alien

It's not been the busiest of times on the craft front recently. This is due to the new addiction of Guitar Hero, which has become a firm family favourite for everyone. It's great, actually - a bit naughty in that you're playing music without all that hard practice and learning, but nice and challenging as a game. Also tons of fun to play with other people, which is, after all, why we got it. I do have to be careful with my voice, though, still two weeks of term left to go!

In between gigs I've made a few bits and pieces. Meet Harry Beau:

A wee purple dragon for my sister's birthday; K named him after her favourite sweeties and I took a little bit of a liberty with the spelling. Again, it's basically the same Marjorie Crochets design as PopBang with added Cthulhu wings and I also put in an extra spike on his tail, he seemed better balanced with four.

A few weeks ago we visited Yorkshire to see some friends of ours where we passed on the set for Daisy Rose (who's due shortly, how exciting!). They'd been to visit family and came across a book signing of Aliens in Underpants Save the World, the follow-up to Aliens Love Underpants!, a firm favourite of both K and her friend. Wonderfully, they brought us a signed copy too! K has a number of Creepy Cute aliens, and she decided she wanted me to make one for her friend too. I had a very specific brief: it must be bright yellow and have orange underpants. Here he is:

He's a bit grouchy-looking in this light, but I hope you can see his y-fronts! I used the same Creepy Cute pattern up to about the middle, did a few rows in orange and then joined some yellow at either side to make the leg holes. Hopefully he'll have arrived at his destination by now; K made a card to go with it which was covered in fabric scraps shaped like pants.

I joined Crafter...oo recently thanks to the Granny Square Swap and am really enjoying it; it's such a friendly forum. It's nice to visit somewhere based in the UK because you just can't beat local knowledge sometimes. They're coming up to their first birthday and are running a referrer's competition - so if you fancy joining us, tell 'em Seawood sent you! And if you're visiting via Crafter..oo, hello! It's lovely to see you!

I've got new books, a wonderful piece of sand art and the finished Granny Square swap - with a free pattern - to share with you later. Stay tuned!
