Goodies

Thank you for all the nice comments on the Granny Square bag! We went into battle on Monday night and lo, the spell pouch was very handy indeed. I went through an awful lot of spells so it was really useful to be able to tuck the spent ones away. Together we killed a walking mountain and liberated the town (we think) in a totally Hollywood-style scene where not one of our party even received a scratch :D Brilliant stuff.

For rest of this week I've been absolutely snowed under - I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel of all the crocheted orders (good job too, conference is in two weeks!) and am putting the finishing touches to the button swap. I've also started work on a couple of pieces for the Fantasy Movie swap - I'm mostly awaiting materials and trying to get my head around some measurements. So I can't really show anything of my own off at the moment, unfortunately, but there is much goodness to come.

In the meantime, please enjoy the Crafteroo/Etsy goodness which I treated myself to recently! I've been meaning to blog these for ages but have struggled to take decent pictures - many thanks indeed to the creators for letting me pinch the following photos of their work.

First up is this absolutely gorgeous Sea Anemone glass pendant from Steam Punk Glass:

Fabulous work. I'm so impressed with this every time I put it on, it's very pretty and unusual, and lovely to handle. Beautifully packaged and a pleasure to deal with Glen - do check out his blog here.

Secondly (and only because it came second in the post all the way from Australia!) is the prettiest silver leaf I ever saw from Epheriell Designs:

Isn't that fantastic? So simple, so elegant, like all of Jess' work - I love her pearl and silver designs which are so perfect for wedding jewellery. Speaking of, she's off getting hitched herself this week - all the very best for the future! Have a look at her blog here - she's doing a great series of featured artists at the moment. Again, very nicely packaged and lovely to do business with.

I feel very lucky to be able to buy such beautiful things from such great people. I got to "meet" both of them through Crafteroo. I really value being part of a community like this, partly because hey, I get to buy great stuff no-one else has! and partly because it restores my faith in good customer service, value and creativity.

I was going to write some thoughts on buying handmade but after eighteen interminable verses of Twinkle Twinkle with the words "bingle mangle mufmashbish" shouted in my ear, I think I'll give up here...

Thank you for featuring my pendant, it's always a treat to hear about the 'real life' my things have when they leave me, and to hear they are being enjoyed :-)
