Good day, sunshine

Sunshine! So this is my prototype Mr Sun prop for classes - it does need eyes and a smile, I think, but I was so excited to stitch it all together, stuff it and get the rays on that I kinda forgot to do that. Actually I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to do the eyes yet - I'm not altogether happy with putting safety eyes on as the ones I have are definitely too small, so I'll either have to go shopping for bigger ones (which means a week's delay), do embroidery or applique felt circles on the next one. It was a fair challenge to get the sizing, too - it's a good 8ins across, point to point, but thanks to a great suggestion from the lovely Kirstine I not only got the sizing but a good strong durable fabric, too. I'm really confident this will stand up extremely well in class, and since it's acrylic you can just chuck it in the wash and it'll get cuddlier over time. I'm doing Weather signs with my Stage 2s on Saturday, I think I might take it to class and see what they think!

Happy with the photo, too, for once - the colours are really sharp for a change; guess all that winter sunlight bouncing off snow makes a big difference.

Now to crack on with the clouds...

Oh that is so adorable!

Hey, have you thought of going the route of crocheting flowers? A sunflower to go with the sun would just be too neat :)

Forgive if you've mentioned it before, I haven't caught up on reading all my subscribes since mid Dec...

:) Thanks! I am thinking about flowers - a request has been made - but I'm not sure if I can make them safely for the way we use them in class; they'd need wires to stand up on a table and I don't think I can fit them safely in something like this. The alternative would be to make them fairly flat to velcro onto a board, but personally I like to get rid of the board for my 14-24mo class - some of them are a bit grabby!

Tis all churning over in my head, anyway...
